Juggernauts clinched a thrilling 15-run victory over Extreme Steel to lift the Jindal Steel Premier League–III title as the high-octane inter-departmental cricket tournament concluded with a spectacular floodlit grand finale at Jindal Steel’s Angul Unit on Wednesday.    

Chasing a competitive target of 124 set by Juggernauts, Extreme Steel fought hard but could manage 108 runs for the loss of eight wickets, falling short in a tense finish that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. The result sealed a memorable championship triumph for Juggernauts, capping an action-packed tournament marked by intensity, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Held from January 23 to February 4, the third edition of the league witnessed enthusiastic participation from 42 teams representing various departments, turning the Angul Unit into a vibrant hub of sporting energy. The tournament not only showcased competitive cricket but also strengthened camaraderie and unity across the workforce.

The grand finale was witnessed by Pankaj Malhan, Executive Director, Angul Unit, and Damodar Mittal, Executive Director, Iron Zone, who later presented trophies to the finalists. Congratulating both teams, the senior leaders underlined the importance of sports in promoting physical fitness, discipline, and collective spirit within the organization.

Individual brilliance shone throughout the league, with Chinmay Sahoo of Juggernauts being named Man of the Match in the final. His teammate Aditya Narayan earned the Best Batsman award, while Saroj Garnayak was adjudged Best All-rounder. From Extreme Steel, Amit Sah’s consistent performances fetched him the Man of the Series title, and Soumyakanta Nayak was honoured as the Best Bowler.

The tournament was inaugurated by Hridayswar Jha, Executive Director – Special Projects, as Chief Guest, along with Biju Nair, Advisor – Iron Zone, as Guest of Honour, setting the tone for a spirited sporting fortnight.

Adding a special dimension to the event, friendly matches were organized for the ladies’ workforce and housewives, encouraging wider participation and inclusivity. Seema Malhan and Anita Mittal, President, Jindal Mahila Samiti, actively joined the matches, motivating and cheering the women players.

Conducted seamlessly under the guidance of senior management, the Jindal Steel Premier League–III concluded as a celebration of cricket, community, and corporate camaraderie.
