Odisha is positioning itself for another major push in ports,
logistics and green infrastructure, with Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd. CEO Karan
Adani holding talks with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday to
explore fresh avenues for industrial investment and infrastructure development
in the state.
Adani met Majhi at Loka Seva Bhawan here, with the discussions
focusing on strengthening Odisha’s coastal and logistics ecosystem while
accelerating sustainable industrial growth. The meeting assumes significance as
the state seeks to leverage its strategic coastline, mineral wealth and
connectivity to attract large-scale investments and create new employment
opportunities.
The discussions covered port modernisation, logistics
connectivity and renewable-energy initiatives, reflecting a broader focus on
building an integrated industrial infrastructure network in Odisha. Sources
said Majhi assured full government support for projects capable of generating
jobs, boosting local economic activity and strengthening coastal trade.
Adani, meanwhile, expressed interest in expanding operations at Dhamra Port and exploring new investment corridors across Odisha’s mineral-rich and coastal belts. Such expansion could further enhance the state’s role as a key gateway for cargo movement and industrial supply chains in eastern India.
The meeting also brought skill development and local community engagement into focus, with both sides discussing the potential role of corporate social responsibility programmes in supporting communities around industrial and port-linked projects.
