Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal has described the Shrimad Bhagavad
Gita as one of the biggest influences on his understanding of life, saying the
ancient scripture has answers to the questions and doubts arising from the
past, present and future.
In a heartfelt message on the occasion of Janmashtami, Agarwal said he
is often asked about his favourite book, and for him, the answer is closely
linked to the lessons he has learned about life through the Bhagavad Gita.
“Whatever I have understood and
learned about living life, a very large part of it is because of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita,” Agarwal said.
Recalling the timeless message of Lord Krishna, he quoted the iconic
verse: “Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu
kadachana” — urging people to focus on their actions without being consumed
by anxiety over the outcome.
“When despair surrounds us,
Krishna becomes our charioteer and tells us: Do your duty and do not worry
about the fruits of your actions,” Agarwal said.
Reflecting on his cultural connection with Lord Krishna, the Vedanta Chairman
said stories of Krishna from Purvanchal and Mathura-Vrindavan have been part of
people's lives since childhood. This, he said, may be one reason Krishna feels
like much more than a divine figure.
“Perhaps that is why Krishna is
not just God for us, but someone who feels close to us — someone who shows us
the way at every turn in life,” Agarwal said.
Drawing from his personal experience, Agarwal added that the Bhagavad
Gita contains answers to “all the questions and all the doubts” concerning
one's past, present and future.
Concluding his Janmashtami message, Agarwal offered his respects to Govind Dev Ji and extended his greetings to people on the auspicious occasion.
“My salutations at the feet of my Govind Dev Ji. Heartiest greetings on Janmashtami,” he said.
