Amid
concerns over fuel availability, the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)
across the country remains stable, with both the Central and Odisha Government
stepping up efforts to ensure uninterrupted access for consumers while taking
stringent action against illegal hoarding.
The
Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, Government of Odisha, has
intensified enforcement measures to curb unauthorized storage and
black-marketing of LPG cylinders. Acting on allegations of malpractice, the
Department carried out raids at as many as 2,503 locations across the State.
These
large-scale enforcement drives led to the seizure of 4,992 illegally stored LPG
cylinders. Authorities have registered 31 cases, while 384 cases have been
instituted under the Essential Commodities Act. In addition, five individuals
have been arrested for their involvement in unlawful storage and sale of LPG.
Reiterating
the robustness of India’s LPG supply chain, officials clarified that the system
remains unaffected despite recent geopolitical developments impacting the
global fuel market. Ensuring priority access for domestic consumers continues
to remain a top priority for the Government.
To streamline services and enhance convenience, consumers have been encouraged to use digital platforms such as SMS and IVRS for booking LPG refills.
The Government has also urged the public not to panic or resort to unnecessary bulk booking of cylinders. Citizens have been advised to stay vigilant against rumors and rely only on official sources for accurate and timely information.
