Mahindra Last Mile Mobility
Limited, India’s No.1 electric commercial vehicle maker, has unveiled the
Mahindra UDO, an all-new electric three-wheeler positioned as a
transformational product for last-mile mobility. Inspired by the design
philosophy of an aircraft and envisioned as an “autoplane”, the Mahindra UDO
combines futuristic styling, enhanced driver comfort and high-efficiency
performance at an introductory price of ₹358,999, against an ex-showroom tag of
₹384,299 for a limited period.
The launch marks a strategic
push by Mahindra to redefine the conventional autorickshaw, a format that has
remained largely unchanged globally since 1948. Developed by Pratap Bose and
the Mahindra India Design Studio, the vehicle features a bold exterior with
distinctive headlamps, a wide windshield and redesigned mirrors to create
stronger road presence while elevating the professional image of drivers. The
interior adopts a lounge-like layout with a thicker “pilot seat” for the
driver, improved headroom and legroom for passengers, and independent rear
suspension with dual fork front suspension to enhance ride quality on uneven
urban roads. A first-in-segment full monocoque construction further improves structural
strength and stability.
On the performance front, the
Mahindra UDO delivers a real-world driving range of 200 km and an
ARAI-certified range of 265 km, powered by an IP67-rated 11.7 kWh laser-welded
lithium-ion battery and a PMS motor producing 10 kW peak power and 52 Nm
torque. The vehicle integrates regenerative braking with a segment-first
reverse throttle for smoother speed control and extended range, along with Hill
Hold Assist and Creep functions to improve drivability in congested city traffic.
A tri-mode driving system—Range, Ride and Race—allows operators to balance
efficiency and speed, with a top speed of 55 km/h aimed at improving trip
turnaround and earning potential.
Safety and ownership economics
have been central to the product strategy. The UDO comes with a warranty of 1.5
lakh km or six years, IP67-rated critical components for all-weather
reliability, tubeless tyres and high-performance drum brakes designed for
shorter stopping distances. Mahindra is also offering industry-first free
services up to one lakh kilometres and enrolling customers into the UDAY NXT
programme, which includes ₹20 lakh accidental insurance and financial
counselling support.
Manufactured at Mahindra’s
Zaheerabad facility, where the company has invested in automated battery
assembly and robotised production lines, the UDO is positioned to accelerate
electrification in the L5M auto segment.
Suman Mishra, Managing Director
and CEO of Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, said, “At Mahindra Last Mile
Mobility, our purpose is to electrify the last mile transportation to
meaningfully improve lives of customers. With this launch, we are taking a
decisive step in that direction. Built on deep customer insights, Mahindra UDO
has been reimagined from the ground up to bring together safety, comfort,
design and performance. This product reflects our belief that mobility in last
mile must move from survival to dignity, while setting new benchmarks for the
category.”
