CPSE National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to
implement a Green Corridor enhancement initiative in the city under its
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
The MoU was
signed between the NALCO Foundation and BMC in the presence of Bhubaneswar
Mayor Sulochana Das, BMC Commissioner Chanchal Rana, and senior officials from
both organisations.
As part of
the initiative, NALCO will extend financial assistance for the development and
maintenance of a 2.3-kilometre median stretch from Jaydev Vihar Square to
Kalinga Hospital Square. The project will also cover the landscaping and upkeep
of five green spaces spanning approximately 1,06,524 square metres.
BMC will
serve as the nodal agency for the project and will execute the initiative
through the Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC). The Green Corridor
enhancement project aims to strengthen the city’s urban green cover, improve
aesthetic appeal, and promote sustainable environmental management in
Bhubaneswar.
