Reinforcing the need to protect marine ecosystems and keep public spaces clean, Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) organised a beach cleanliness drive at Puri on Sunday as part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign.

The initiative sought to raise awareness about marine litter, its adverse impact on the environment and the urgent need to preserve the ecological health of coastal areas. The drive also highlighted the role of collective action in promoting environmental sustainability and responsible waste disposal.

The programme was led by Pankaj Kumar Sharma, Director (Production); Dr. Tapas Kumar Pattanayak, Director (Human Resources); and Abhay Kumar Behuria, Director (Finance), NALCO. Senior officials and employees of the company, representatives of the NALCO Foundation, associates and students of Biswambhar Bidyapitha participated in the initiative.

Adding an artistic dimension to the awareness campaign, a sand sculpture was created near the Lighthouse on Puri beach to convey the message of cleanliness and environmental conservation to tourists and the general public.
