In a significant push towards India's Digital India vision and the government's Ease of Living agenda, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has expanded the capabilities of its RajmargYatra mobile application by launching two major digital services—an online Local Pass system and the MargMitra Help Centre. The initiatives are designed to simplify highway travel, reduce paperwork and provide commuters with faster, technology-driven assistance.

The digital Local Pass marks a major shift in the way eligible users access discounted toll services. Instead of visiting toll plazas and submitting physical documents, commuters can now complete the entire process through the RajmargYatra app in just a few minutes. The service has been introduced initially at the Mundka–Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on Delhi's Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and is expected to be rolled out at additional toll plazas across the country in the coming months.

Residents living within a 20-kilometre radius of an eligible toll plaza can purchase the Local Pass digitally, enabling unlimited travel through the respective toll plaza for a month. The platform uses consent-based integration with government digital platforms such as DigiLocker and VAHAN to automatically retrieve verified information related to a commuter's address, vehicle details and linked FASTag. Eligibility is further verified through GIS-based validation, eliminating manual documentation while improving transparency, accuracy and user convenience.

NHAI has also introduced the digitally enabled MargMitra Help Centre, an intelligent assistance platform integrated into the RajmargYatra app. Functioning as a single-window interface, the service allows highway users to access information, seek assistance and register grievances through a conversational interface.

Users can type or speak their queries in any of the 22 Indian languages, making the platform accessible to a wider audience. The Help Centre provides instant support on FASTag recharge, KYC requirements, refund status, Annual and Local Pass services, as well as other frequently asked questions. Complaints requiring official intervention are automatically routed to the relevant department, while users can track grievance status in real time and file appeals if they are dissatisfied with the resolution.

The platform also enables commuters to check FASTag blacklisting status, monitor pending e-Notices and report road safety concerns such as stalled vehicles or encroachments on National Highways.

The latest upgrades build on the success of the RajmargYatra app, which has already facilitated the sale of more than 80 lakh Annual Passes with real-time activation. By integrating advanced digital technologies into highway operations, NHAI is strengthening its citizen-centric approach, delivering seamless, transparent and efficient services while transforming the digital experience for millions of National Highway users across India.
