KALINGANAGAR, MARCH 21, 2026

Demonstrating its strong commitment to industrial safety and risk preparedness, Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) conducted a full-scale on-site emergency mock drill at its Kalinganagar Plant, simulating a realistic fire emergency scenario at the Tar Storage Area of the Coal Plant and By-Product Plant (BPP). The exercise underscored the company’s proactive approach to strengthening safety mechanisms and ensuring swift, coordinated responses to potential industrial hazards.

Organised under the guidance and supervision of Ganeshwar Mardi, Assistant Director of Factories & Boilers, Jajpur Zone, the mock drill witnessed active participation from the State Fire Department along with internal safety teams. The operation was tactically led by Suresh Kumar Jena, Fire Incharge, Dangadhi, whose expertise ensured effective deployment of response strategies and adherence to established safety protocols.

The drill aimed at comprehensively assessing the plant’s preparedness to manage high-risk emergency situations while evaluating response time, functionality of firefighting equipment, and efficiency of communication systems. The simulated emergency provided an opportunity to fine-tune coordination between internal teams and external emergency responders, thereby enhancing operational resilience.

Through such rigorous safety exercises, NINL continues to foster a culture of vigilance, preparedness and operational excellence. The initiative reflects the organisation’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding employees, protecting industrial assets, and maintaining high safety standards within the Kalinganagar industrial hub.
