Reliance Foundation Founder and Chairperson Nita M Ambani on
Monday announced a contribution of Rs 21 crore to the Assam Chief Minister's
Relief Fund to support families affected by the recent floods, in addition to
the ongoing relief and rehabilitation work being carried out by Reliance
Foundation, Vantara and volunteers from across the Reliance family.
The financial assistance comes as Reliance Foundation
continues its multi-sector relief operations in the flood-hit districts of
Upper Assam, focusing on food security, safe drinking water, healthcare
restoration, community rehabilitation and veterinary care for livestock.
Expressing solidarity with the flood-affected people of the
state, Ambani said: “Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest solidarity are with the
people of Assam. My heart goes out to every family who has been affected by
these devastating floods. Please know that you are not alone.”
Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanked Ambani
and Reliance Foundation for extending support to the state during the crisis.
“Smt. Nita Ambani,
Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation has always stood by the people
of Assam whenever our State has faced difficult times. I fondly remember her
unwavering support during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the Reliance Foundation
extended timely assistance to our people. Yesterday, she once again
demonstrated that spirit by contributing ₹21 crore to the Chief
Minister’s Relief Fund to support flood affected families in Upper Assam.
Alongside this contribution, Reliance Foundation teams are working tirelessly on the ground, providing
food, public health services, emergency shelter, and care for livestock. I
convey my heartfelt gratitude to Smt. Nita Ambani and the Reliance Foundation
for their compassion, kindness, and support for the people of Assam,” wrote Sarma
on his social media handle.
Ambani said teams from Reliance Foundation and Vantara, along
with volunteers from across the Reliance family, were working with the Assam
government and local communities to support relief and recovery efforts.
“Our teams from
Reliance Foundation and Vantara, together with volunteers from across the
Reliance family, are on the ground, working alongside the Government of Assam
and local communities to provide every possible support. The people of Assam
have always shown extraordinary courage and resilience in the face of
adversity. We stand with you today, and we will continue to stand with you in
the days ahead, as together we rebuild lives, restore hope, and emerge stronger
than before.”
According to the Foundation, the Rs 21-crore contribution is
in addition to the relief operations already underway in the worst-affected
districts of Sivasagar and Charaideo, where it aims to reach at least 50,000
vulnerable people with critical relief and recovery support.
The ongoing interventions include restoration of critical
water supply systems, deployment of water purification units to provide safe
drinking water, community kitchens serving hot meals, desilting and restoration
of health centres, door-to-door veterinary care campaigns by Vantara, and
coordination with local authorities to ensure targeted delivery of assistance.
The Foundation said thousands of people in the two districts have already benefited from these interventions, which will be expanded in the coming days.
It added that, guided by Reliance's 'We Care' philosophy, the relief efforts are focused on restoring affected villages through community-driven rehabilitation and helping displaced families return to their homes at the earliest.
