Amid reports of
temporary fuel shortages in a few parts of Odisha, Oil Marketing Companies
(OMCs) on Thursday clarified that there is no shortage of Petrol and Diesel in
the State and that the overall supply situation remains “normal and stable.”
The clarification
came after some bordering districts witnessed an unexpected surge in demand for
fuel during the first few days of the month, leading to temporary disruptions
at select retail outlets. Responding swiftly, the OMCs launched coordinated
measures to restore normalcy and ensure uninterrupted supply across the
affected regions.
According to official
sources, additional tank trucks have been deployed to accelerate transportation
and replenishment of fuel stocks at retail outlets and supply locations.
Simultaneously, real-time monitoring of inventory levels is being carried out,
with priority supply being extended to outlets reporting lower stock positions.
The OMCs reiterated
that adequate stocks of Petrol and Diesel are available across Odisha and that
all retail fuel stations are functioning normally.
In a significant advisory, the companies urged industrial consumers to source their fuel requirements directly from the respective Oil Companies instead of purchasing from retail outlets, noting that petrol pumps are not authorized for bulk sale of petroleum products.
Seeking to calm public concerns, the OMCs appealed to citizens not to indulge in panic buying and advised people to rely only on official communication channels for information regarding fuel availability.
