NTPC Bongaigaon extended strong support to the successful organisation of the All-India Inter-Sector Kabaddi Championship hosted by the CISF Unit, NTPC Bongaigaon, from January 12 to 15, 2026, at the SAI Stadium, Kokrajhar. The four-day national-level tournament concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony on January 15, celebrating exceptional athleticism, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest, accompanied by Amit Kumar Asthana, AGM (HR), NTPC Bongaigaon, and other senior NTPC officials. Maitra presented the Winner and Runner-Up trophies to the victorious teams and commended the players for their high energy, teamwork, and unwavering commitment throughout the championship.

The tournament saw enthusiastic participation from eight sectors in the Men’s category and three sectors in the Women’s category, reflecting broad national representation and intense yet healthy competition. In the Women’s category, APS-II emerged as champions, with the North Eastern Sector (NES) securing the Runner-Up position and the Central Sector finishing third. In the Men’s category, APS-II once again claimed the title, NES finished as Runners-Up, and the Eastern Sector secured third place.

Addressing the gathering, Arnab Maitra lauded the CISF Unit, NTPC Bongaigaon, for the seamless conduct of the championship and underscored the vital role of sports in fostering physical endurance, mental resilience, and team cohesion. He noted that inter-sector sporting events such as this strengthen camaraderie, discipline, and mutual respect among participants, while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.

The championship was marked by impressive displays of strength, agility, and determination from all teams. The NES contingent, in particular, stood out with its consistent performance and exemplary sportsmanship, finishing Runners-Up in both the Men’s and Women’s categories.

The successful organisation of the championship reaffirmed the commitment of the CISF Unit, BGTPP, Bongaigaon — supported by NTPC Bongaigaon — towards promoting sports, fitness, and a culture of teamwork and discipline among security forces and sectors across the country.
