NTPC Bongaigaon on Saturday paid rich tributes to Assam's iconic singer and musician Zubeen Garg on his first death anniversary, organising a Nahor plantation drive and a commemorative gathering to remember his enduring contribution to the state's cultural landscape.

The programmes were organised under the aegis of the Employees Welfare Association, bringing together senior officials, employees, family members and children of the NTPC Bongaigaon community.

NTPC Bongaigaon Head of Project Arnab Maitra led the plantation programme near the Administrative Building. He was joined by Head of HR Amit Kumar Asthana, heads of various departments, senior officials, employees and members of the association.

Nahor saplings were planted in memory of Garg, whose distinctive voice, music and humanitarian spirit have left a deep imprint on Assam's cultural identity. The plantation drive was conceived as a living tribute to the artiste, whose musical influence extended beyond the stage and resonated with generations across Assam and the country.

Later in the evening, employees, family members and children gathered at the Community Mandap to offer floral tributes to the late singer. The intimate commemorative programme provided an opportunity for members of the NTPC community to recall his life, music and close emotional connect with the people of Assam.

Addressing the gathering, Maitra recalled Garg's rich artistic legacy and his ability to bring people together through music. He said Garg was more than a celebrated singer and had emerged as a voice of Assam, carrying its language, emotions and cultural identity to audiences across generations.

Employees and children also shared their memories of the singer and spoke about the enduring place his songs occupy in their lives. His music was played during the gathering, turning the evening into a collective remembrance of an artiste whose work continues to resonate with the people.
