NTPC Bongaigaon has once again reinforced its commitment to community
development and youth empowerment with the launch of the 2026 batch of Disha
Classes, a flagship educational initiative under the employee-led voluntary
platform e-VOICE, supported by the station’s CSR wing.
The programme, which has been mentoring and guiding local youth since
2019, is designed to prepare students from neighbouring communities for
competitive examinations at both state and central levels, with a strong focus
on recruitment into the police and armed forces. The new academic session
formally commenced on 17 February 2026, drawing enthusiastic participation from
nearly 45 students from surrounding areas. The initiative is being implemented
by NTPC employees in close association with the CISF Unit, with institutional
support from the station’s CSR framework.
The inaugural session was graced by Anurag Gupta, General Manager
(O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, who underscored the importance of discipline,
punctuality and consistency as the cornerstones of success for aspirants
preparing for competitive careers. He lauded the voluntary spirit of NTPC
employees who are devoting their time, expertise and mentorship to guide
students towards meaningful and sustainable employment opportunities.
Amit Kumar Asthana, Head of HR, NTPC Bongaigaon, elaborated on NTPC’s
broader vision as a responsible corporate entity committed to unlocking the
potential of local youth. He emphasised that education, skill development and
structured guidance are central to fostering inclusive growth and creating
pathways for socio-economic mobility in the region.
Ashish Kumar, Deputy Commandant, CISF, NTPC Bongaigaon, also interacted
with the students, encouraging them to remain focused, physically fit and
mentally resilient while preparing for the rigorous selection processes of
defence and police services. His address highlighted the importance of a
balanced approach that combines academic preparation with physical training and
psychological readiness.
The participating students expressed heartfelt gratitude to the NTPC Bongaigaon management, CISF personnel and employee volunteers for providing a structured platform that blends academic coaching with physical training. Many aspirants shared their determination to leverage this guidance to secure employment and contribute positively to society.
Through Disha Classes under the e-VOICE initiative, NTPC Bongaigaon continues to deepen its engagement with the local community while nurturing a confident, skilled and future-ready generation. It is noteworthy that e-VOICE members conduct the academic coaching, while the CISF Unit at NTPC Bongaigaon provides dedicated physical training. Over the past seven years, more than 21 local youth have secured employment in various state and central armed forces through this sustained and collaborative effort, reflecting the tangible impact of the programme on grassroots empowerment.
