NTPC Northern Region Headquarters (NRHQ), Lucknow, has extended support to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to improve the welfare and living conditions of cattle at Kanha Upvan Gaushala.

The gaushala houses around 10,000 abandoned and stray cattle, including cows, bulls and calves, besides sections dedicated to other rescued animals.

As part of the CSR initiative, NTPC provided coolers, wall-mounted fans and rock salt for use in fodder to help ensure better care and improve the living conditions of the animals, particularly during the hot weather.

The materials were formally handed over by S N Panigrahi, Executive Director (HR), NTPC NRHQ, Lucknow, to Dr Abhinav Verma, Animal Welfare Officer, Nagar Nigam, Lucknow, at a programme held at Kanha Upvan Gaushala.

The programme was attended by Namita Panigrahi, Vice President, Uttra Club, along with officials from NTPC NRHQ and staff members of the gaushala.

The initiative reflects NTPC's continued commitment to animal welfare, social responsibility and sustainable community development through meaningful CSR interventions, the company said.
