International Women’s Day 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the NTPC Northern Region Headquarters (NRHQ) in Lucknow, with the programme centred on the global theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” aimed at accelerating gender equality and strengthening legal protections for women.

On the occasion, S. N. Panigrahi, CGM (HR), extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all women employees and members of the Uttara Club who had gathered to celebrate the day. Addressing the gathering, he underlined the importance of observing International Women’s Day every year on March 8 and reflected on its historical significance. He emphasized the need to continuously promote women’s empowerment, ensure equal opportunities, and recognize the invaluable contributions women make to society as well as to the workplace.

The celebration began with a ceremonial cake-cutting, setting a joyful and vibrant tone for the programme. Adding depth to the event, Rekha Nigam, Former AGM (Law), NTPC, and currently a member of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), conducted an informative and interactive session focusing on women’s rights and justice. During her session, she elaborated on key legal provisions related to the protection and empowerment of women and highlighted the importance of awareness about workplace rights and safeguards.

Participants actively engaged in the discussion, making the session both insightful and impactful. The interaction helped strengthen understanding about legal frameworks designed to ensure dignity, safety, and equality for women.

The celebration concluded with a shared commitment among employees to continue fostering gender equality, mutual respect, and a safe, supportive and inclusive work environment across the organisation.

The programme was also attended by Rahul Sharma, AGM (HR), and V. P. Shaw, DGM (HR), along with employees who joined in large numbers to mark the occasion and reaffirm their dedication towards empowering women in every sphere.
