Reinforcing its commitment to community
development and employment generation, NTPC Unchahar on Saturday launched a
comprehensive skill development programme for 60 unemployed youth under its
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in collaboration with the
Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET),
Lucknow. The initiative is aimed at equipping local youth with
industry-relevant technical skills and significantly enhancing their
employability in the growing manufacturing and plastics sectors.
The programme was inaugurated by
Diwakar Kaushik, Regional Executive Director (North) & CEO (NSPCL), in the
presence of S. N. Panigrahi, Executive Director (HR), North & South Region,
Biswa Mohan Singh, Executive Director, NTPC Unchahar, and Vivek Kumar, Joint
Director & Head, CIPET, Lucknow.
Under the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed
between NTPC Unchahar and CIPET, 60 unemployed youth from 15 nearby gram
panchayats have been selected for specialized training. The batch includes 22
women trainees, reflecting the programme's emphasis on promoting gender
inclusion and creating equal opportunities for skill enhancement. The trainees
will receive industry-focused training in Machine Operator–Injection Moulding
and Machine Operator–Plastic Processing, preparing them for employment in the
plastics and manufacturing industries.
Addressing the trainees during the inaugural
ceremony, RED(N) Kaushik emphasized the importance of discipline, continuous
learning and technical skills for building a successful career. ED(HR), NR
& SR Panigrahi encouraged the trainees to make the best use of the
programme and develop skills to excel in the industry. Executive Director
(Unchahar) Singh reaffirmed NTPC Unchahar's commitment to empowering local
youth through employment-oriented skill development initiatives.
The initiative forms part of NTPC Unchahar's
broader CSR strategy aimed at fostering sustainable socio-economic development
in the region through skill enhancement and livelihood generation. Over the
years, the power station has consistently invested in employment-oriented
training programmes to improve the career prospects of local youth.
Under its CSR initiatives, NTPC Unchahar has already facilitated employment for 187 local youth through various skill development programmes, with an investment of approximately ₹196 lakh, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable socio-economic development of the region.
The inaugural programme was also attended by Rahul Sharma, AGM (HR), Northern Region, Pankaj Kumar, Head of HR, NTPC Unchahar, and members of the CSR team, who interacted with the trainees and reiterated the organization's focus on creating skilled manpower and empowering communities through meaningful CSR interventions.
