Odia literature marked a proud global moment
as acclaimed poet and author Swayam Prava Rath’s poetry collection Shabda Phulara Tarpana was launched on
an international platform in Denver, USA, during the Odisha Fortnight
celebration organised by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Odisha Society of
the Americas (OSA).
The vibrant gathering
witnessed enthusiastic participation from the thriving Odia diaspora across
Colorado and neighbouring states, reflecting a deep-rooted emotional connection
with their cultural heritage. The event began on a patriotic note with
collective singing of Odisha’s iconic state anthem Bande Utkal Janani, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia and pride
far from home.
Following the formal
release of the book by senior community member Premalata Panda, the poet
captivated the audience with soulful recitations from her collection. Through
her words, she celebrated the timeless literary traditions of Odisha and
highlighted the richness of its cultural ethos. She also lauded the Odia
community abroad for their professional excellence and their unwavering
commitment to preserving the language, values and artistic legacy of their
homeland.
The celebration was
further enlivened by graceful cultural performances, including classical Odissi
dance, showcasing Odisha’s artistic brilliance on the global stage.
Distinguished attendees included OSA Rocky Mountain Chapter President Rajat Pradhan and Treasurer Bijan Padhi.
The author was introduced by noted technocrat Anand Mohanty in the presence of businesswoman and social activist Sonali Sucharita Ahuja, underscoring the strong intellectual and cultural bonds within the Odia diaspora.
