Odisha Chief Minister
Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday visited the Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA)
facility at Jebel Ali in Dubai to witness advanced aluminium production
technologies and explore global best practices in the sector, as the state
seeks to strengthen its position as a major aluminium hub.
During the visit,
Majhi highlighted the technology licence partnership between National Aluminium
Company Ltd (NALCO) and EGA, which brings together EGA’s technological expertise
and NALCO’s strong aluminium manufacturing base in Odisha.
The partnership is
expected to support the modernisation of aluminium production, capacity
expansion, low-carbon manufacturing and the development of higher-value
aluminium products, according to officials.
The Chief Minister
also explored opportunities for EGA to participate in Odisha’s expanding
downstream aluminium ecosystem, including the Angul Aluminium Park, which is
being developed to promote value addition and attract investments in aluminium-based
industries.
The visit assumes
significance as Odisha looks to leverage its abundant mineral resources,
established aluminium industry and growing industrial infrastructure to deepen
value addition and attract global technology and investment into the sector.
The interaction at
EGA also provided an opportunity to understand advanced production practices
and technologies that could contribute to improving efficiency, sustainability
and competitiveness in Odisha’s aluminium industry.
