Approval to projects worth Rs 1,130 crore across health, sewerage treatment, urban development, water supply and animal vaccine production sectors marked the key outcome of the 65th meeting of the Empowered Committee on Infrastructure (ECI) for PPP Projects chaired by Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg on Monday.

The Empowered Committee on Infrastructure for PPP Projects accorded in-principle approval to five new Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects aimed at strengthening critical infrastructure and boosting private investment participation in the State.

During the meeting, the Committee also undertook a detailed review of the ongoing pipeline of PPP projects and advised the concerned Departments and Project Sponsoring Authorities to adhere to strict timelines and ensure due diligence at every stage of project execution.

Emphasising the strategic importance of PPP initiatives, the Chief Secretary said such projects are vital for achieving the targets set for attracting private investment under “Vision 2036” and for ensuring the long-term sustainability of a developed Odisha.

In another significant decision, the Committee granted in-principle approval for collaboration between the PPP Cell of the Finance Department and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to build a strong pipeline of viable projects and create a robust PPP-friendly ecosystem in the State.
