Emphasising Odisha’s
growing stature as a preferred destination for high-technology investments,
Additional Chief Secretary for Energy, Electronics and IT, Vishal Dev, led a
high-level delegation to Malaysia to deepen engagement in semiconductor
manufacturing and data centre development. The visit to the Indian High
Commission underscored Odisha’s strategic push to integrate with global
innovation networks and position itself as a competitive hub for advanced
electronics and digital infrastructure.
During deliberations
with key stakeholders, Dev highlighted the state’s strong fundamentals under
the Advantage Odisha initiative, pointing out its rare distinction as a
power-surplus and water-surplus region capable of supporting energy-intensive
data centres and precision semiconductor fabrication facilities. He stressed
that Odisha’s stable fiscal position, investor-friendly ecosystem, and
expanding infrastructure create a reliable foundation for long-term global
partnerships.
The delegation’s interaction in Penang, one of the world’s established semiconductor clusters, focused on fostering academic-industry collaborations and exploring avenues for strategic MoUs. Odisha’s Semiconductor Manufacturing and Fabless Policy, offering attractive incentives including power and water subsidies, was showcased as a key enabler for global companies seeking to diversify supply chains and expand operations in India.
Highlighting the state’s geographical advantage with strong maritime connectivity to Southeast Asia, Dev invited Malaysian technology leaders to collaborate in building a future-ready talent ecosystem and advanced manufacturing base.
