Cadets from
the Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre (ONTHHPC) delivered a
resounding statement at the Hockey India League 2026, showcasing their growing
dominance on Indian hockey’s biggest domestic stage. With five podium finishes,
representation in the championship-winning squad and multiple personal
milestones, the ONTHHPC contingent emerged as one of the standout success
stories of the season.
In all, eight
ONTHHPC cadets represented different franchises during HIL 2026, underlining
the Centre’s expanding role in shaping elite-level hockey talent for the
country. Their collective performances across teams reflected both depth and
consistency, reinforcing the Centre’s reputation as a reliable talent pipeline.
At the
forefront of the triumph were Rohit Kullu, Deepak Pradhan and Roshan Kujur, who
played key roles for Vedanta Kalinga Lancers as they clinched the HIL 2026
title. Adding to the Centre’s medal tally, Anmol Ekka was instrumental in
Ranchi Royals’ impressive campaign that culminated in a runners-up finish,
while Irengbam Rohit Singh helped Hyderabad Toofans secure the bronze medal.
The season
was equally memorable for individual breakthroughs. Adrohit Ekka, turning out
for Tamilnadu Dragons, scored his maiden goal in the Hockey India League,
marking an important career milestone. Goalkeeper Vivek Lakra, representing
Shrachi Bengal Tigers, etched his name into HIL history by becoming the
youngest player ever to earn a record contract, a testament to his rapid rise
and growing stature in the domestic circuit. Pradip Mandal also featured for
JSW Soorma Hockey Club, completing the strong ONTHHPC presence across
franchises.
Reflecting
on the achievements, Gurmeet Singh Rao, Project Director, ONTHHPC, said that
watching the cadets thrive under pressure and consistently finish on the podium
was a proud moment for the entire ecosystem. He noted that the results were a
reflection of years of disciplined training and the combined efforts of
athletes, coaches and support staff.
ONTHHPC
congratulated all eight cadets for their impactful performances and
acknowledged the Hockey India League franchises for offering a high-intensity
competitive platform. Reaffirming its long-term vision, the Centre reiterated
its commitment to nurturing players capable of excelling at the highest
national and international levels, as the next generation of Indian hockey
continues to rise.
