In a strong
endorsement of clean and sustainable energy, Indian hockey star and Olympian
Amit Rohidas has adopted rooftop solar energy at his residence under the
Government of India’s flagship PM Surya
Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, inspiring citizens across Odisha to embrace
greener living.
By installing a
rooftop solar system at his home, Amit has not only reduced his dependence on
conventional electricity but has also benefited from substantial financial
savings through the scheme’s subsidy support. His decision reflects the growing
trust among consumers in renewable energy solutions that combine sustainability
with long-term economic benefits.
Sharing his
experience, Amit Rohidas said: “When we play on the ground, every second is
important to us. Similarly, every unit of electricity is very important for our
home. Through PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, I have adopted solar energy and
received a subsidy of ₹1,38,000.
I thank the government immensely for such a scheme.
I also thank TPCODL
for assisting me in installing solar at my home. With solar, my electricity
bill worries are gone — I don’t have to pay bills anymore.
Just as discipline is
necessary for sports, solar is necessary for the future. This is a smart
decision. You focus on your dreams... let the sun power your home.”
Amit’s adoption of
rooftop solar is expected to motivate thousands of households across Odisha to
shift towards clean energy and take advantage of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, which offers attractive subsidies
for residential solar installations while contributing significantly to
environmental sustainability.
On the occasion, Amit
Rohidas further encouraged people to embrace renewable energy, saying that he
too has installed solar panels on his rooftop and urged citizens to do the same
to reduce their electricity bills.
Commenting on the
initiative, TPCODL CEO Arvind Singh said, “We are happy to see renowned
sportspersons like Amit Rohidas adopting rooftop solar and promoting
sustainable energy solutions. Such initiatives inspire communities to embrace
greener choices for a better future. TPCODL remains committed to supporting
consumers at every step under the PM
Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.”
