The celebrations, held at the NBCC Convention Centre here, marked eight decades of Oriental Insurance's journey from a modest beginning in 1947, when it recorded a premium of around Rs 99,950, to a leading general insurer with a business of more than Rs 21,000 crore in 2025-26.

Debasish Prusti, Additional Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, was the chief guest at the event, while Divesh Sehara, Joint Secretary (Finance), Ministry of Finance, and Vikram Singh, retired DGP of Uttar Pradesh Police, attended as guests of honour.

Former CMDs of Oriental Insurance, senior officials, employees, broker representatives, OEM partners and corporate clients were also present at the celebrations.

A key highlight of the event was the launch of Oriental DigiBiz, the company's first dedicated digital office for customers purchasing insurance directly online.

Through Oriental DigiBiz, customers will be able to purchase eligible insurance products directly through the company's portal without intermediary intervention. The initiative also provides discounts to eligible customers and is aimed at strengthening the insurer's direct-to-customer digital channel.

The 80th Foundation Day celebrations were observed across the country over a period of ten days through a series of social responsibility and insurance awareness initiatives.

Under the "Ek Employee Ek Ped" campaign, the company's Regional Offices planted 5,414 saplings across the country. Helmet distribution drives and insurance awareness camps were also organised to promote road safety and improve awareness about insurance.

As part of its social responsibility initiatives, blood donation camps were organised across the organisation. Oriental Insurance's Kathmandu office conducted a special blood donation camp for flood-affected victims and contributed Rs 20 lakh towards relief assistance.

The New Delhi celebrations also showcased the cultural talent of Oriental Insurance employees, with performances featuring Bhangra, traditional dances and musical presentations, reflecting the diversity and spirit of the organisation.
