In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Jagannath Lalit Kala Sansad (JLKS), in association with Paradip Port Authority (PPA), organized the Women’s Cultural Meet 2026 at Jayadev Sadan, Paradip. The week-long celebration highlights the creativity, cultural talent and achievements of women across the Paradip region, bringing together artists, performers and community members in a vibrant tribute to womanhood and cultural expression.

The programme commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by P. L. Haranadh, Chairman, Paradip Port Authority, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. Senior officials, Heads of Departments and employees of Paradip Port Authority were also present on the occasion and appreciated the initiative aimed at recognizing and celebrating the invaluable contributions of women in society and community life.

As part of the International Women’s Day celebration, a special cake-cutting ceremony was organized, symbolizing joy, unity and appreciation for the achievements and aspirations of women. The evening also featured a Prize Distribution Ceremony for the winners of various competitions organized by the Paradip Ladies Club. The competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation and provided a platform to showcase the diverse talents and creative abilities of women from the port township.

Adding to the cultural fervour of the inaugural evening, a powerful theatrical presentation of the play “Pratidhwani” was staged, captivating the audience with its compelling message, emotive storytelling and artistic performance. The play received warm appreciation from the audience for its meaningful portrayal and impactful delivery.

The Women’s Cultural Meet 2026 will continue until 13th March 2026 and will feature a wide range of cultural programmes, performances and artistic presentations by different ladies’ clubs and local organizations of Paradip, further enriching the cultural atmosphere of the port township.

The initiative is being led by Capt. Alekha Charan Sahoo, President, JLKS, along with R. N. Mishra, Vice-President, JLKS, and Prasanta Moharana, Secretary, JLKS, with the objective of promoting art, culture and women’s empowerment while encouraging community participation in cultural activities.

The Jagannath Lalit Kala Sansad has extended an open invitation to the public and members of the media to be part of this vibrant celebration of womanhood, creativity and cultural heritage.
