PARADIP, FEBRUARY 15, 2026

The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has scripted another milestone in operational efficiency by achieving its highest-ever single-day thermal coal unloading performance, reinforcing its pivotal role in India’s energy logistics network.

On February 14, 2026, the port handled a record 47 rakes of thermal coal in a single day, comprising 41 BOBRN (Bogie Open Bottom Rapid Discharge) rakes and 6 BOXN (Bogie Open High Sided) rakes. The feat marks a significant leap in cargo handling capacity and reflects the port’s growing capability to manage high-volume, time-sensitive energy shipments with precision.

PPA Chairman P L Haranadh lauded the workforce for the achievement, stating that the milestone goes beyond numbers and showcases the collective commitment, meticulous planning and strong operational infrastructure at the port. He emphasized that continuous optimization of rake turnaround time and streamlined cargo handling processes have been central to enhancing productivity and ensuring faster evacuation of coal to consuming regions.

The record performance further consolidates Paradip’s standing as a critical gateway for thermal coal movement, supporting power generation and industrial demand across the country.
