PARADIP, FEBRUARY 1, 2026

Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has kicked off the year 2026 with a resounding operational milestone, registering its highest-ever cargo handling for the month of January. The Port handled an impressive 14.44 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo during the month, surpassing its previous January record of 14.32 MMT achieved in 2024 and reinforcing its standing among India’s top-performing Major Ports.

The record-breaking performance highlights the steady upward trajectory of Paradip Port and reflects the tangible outcomes of sustained infrastructure augmentation, process optimisation and enhanced coordination across terminals and logistics stakeholders. Over the years, the Port has focused on strengthening capacity, improving turnaround times and adopting modern operational practices, enabling it to efficiently manage rising cargo volumes amid evolving maritime trade dynamics.

The continued growth in throughput also underscores the resilience, efficiency and unwavering commitment of the Port’s workforce. Officers, employees, contractual workers and allied stakeholders have played a pivotal role in maintaining operational momentum while navigating increasing complexities in cargo handling and supply chain logistics.

Paradip Port Authority Chairman P. L. Haranadh attributed the achievement to the strategic vision and leadership of the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, and the collective efforts of the entire Paradip Port fraternity. He emphasised that consistent policy support, coupled with a focus on modernization and capacity enhancement, has enabled the Port to deliver strong and sustainable performance.

“With continued emphasis on operational excellence, infrastructure development and stakeholder collaboration, Paradip Port remains committed to supporting India’s expanding trade requirements and contributing meaningfully to national economic growth,” he said.

The record January throughput has set a positive and confident tone for the year ahead, as Paradip Port accelerates its journey towards achieving world-class mega port status.
