Paradip Saksharata Samiti (PSS), the social arm of Paradip Port Authority, celebrated International Women’s Day with an inspiring programme that underscored the importance of education, equality and opportunities for women and girls. The event echoed the global theme “Give to Gain,” highlighting that empowering women not only transforms individual lives but also strengthens society and builds a more inclusive future.

The programme was graced by P. L. Haranadh, Chairman of Paradip Port Authority, as the Chief Guest. Senior officials including A. C. Sahoo, Deputy Conservator; Krishna Bapi Raju G, Secretary; and A. K. Sahoo, FA & CAO, along with other Heads of Departments, were present on the occasion and encouraged initiatives that promote women’s empowerment and social participation.

Renowned social activist Swarna Mishra, former Governing Body Member of PSS, attended the event as the Chief Speaker and shared her valuable perspectives on the transformative power of education in enhancing women’s confidence, leadership and participation in society. Sabita Mishra, also a former Governing Body Member of PSS, joined the celebration as a special invitee and addressed the gathering, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to create greater opportunities for women.

Adding enthusiasm to the celebration, prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions organized as part of the programme, recognising their talent and encouraging active participation in social and educational activities.

Earlier, A. K. Sahoo, Senior DTM, Paradip Port Authority and Working Chairman of PSS, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the significance of International Women’s Day and the need to strengthen women’s empowerment through education, awareness and equal opportunities.

The meeting was presided over by Rama Chandra Pradhan, Secretary of PSS. The programme concluded with Ashok Mohapatra, Project Coordinator of PSS, proposing a vote of thanks to the chair and all participants for their valuable presence and support.

The celebration concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the commitment of Paradip Saksharata Samiti and Paradip Port Authority to promote women’s empowerment, equality and inclusive development within the community.
