In a major boost to
Odisha’s maritime tourism ambitions, the proposed world-class cruise terminal
project in Puri has gathered pace following a strategic site inspection
conducted by the Chief Engineer of Paradip Port Authority (PPA), Himanshu
Sekhar Rout. The visit underscores growing momentum behind the initiative,
which is poised to significantly enhance the state’s tourism infrastructure and
global connectivity.
The upcoming cruise
terminal is planned at Shipasurubali Mouza, a strategically located site near
the proposed Puri International Airport and along the new Puri Bypass road.
With seamless road access and proximity to key infrastructure projects, the
location offers strong logistical advantages, making it an ideal gateway for
cruise tourism in eastern India.
The project is being
jointly developed by Paradip Port Authority and the Government of Odisha as
part of a broader vision to transform the coastal city into a vibrant tourism
and infrastructure hub. The initiative reflects the state’s growing focus on
diversifying tourism offerings and tapping into the expanding global cruise
market.
The proposed terminal
will further complement the prestigious Samuka Project, strengthening Puri’s
positioning as a premium destination for both domestic and international cruise
operators. With integrated infrastructure and improved accessibility, the
project is expected to catalyse economic growth, create new opportunities in
hospitality and services, and reinforce Odisha’s status on the global tourism
map.
