Paradip Port
Authority (PPA) Chairperson Susanta Kumar Purohit on Thursday met senior Odisha
government officials and railway authorities here, seeking to further
strengthen institutional coordination on the development of Paradip Port,
connectivity, infrastructure and other key maritime initiatives.
Purohit paid a
courtesy call on Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg in Bhubaneswar as part of
efforts to deepen coordination between the Paradip Port Authority and the state
government on issues of strategic importance to the port and the region.
During his visit,
Purohit also held separate courtesy meetings with Additional Chief Secretary,
Home Department, Hemant Sharma; Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and
Disaster Management Department, Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee; Additional Chief
Secretary, Housing & Urban Development, Usha Padhee; Principal Secretary,
Commerce and Transport Department, NBS Rajput; Member, Board of Revenue,
Odisha, Satyabrata Sahu; and Shubha Sarma of the Department of Water Resources.
The discussions
centred on the ongoing development and expansion of Paradip Port, with emphasis
on strengthening institutional support and coordination for initiatives aimed
at enhancing the port's operational capacity and its wider contribution to
Odisha's economic growth.
Purohit also met
Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager, East Coast Railway, and Sanjay Kumar
Mishra, PCOM, East Coast Railway, and Member, PPA Board, to discuss issues concerning port
connectivity, railway infrastructure, logistics and other measures required to
support the sustained growth of Paradip Port.
The series of meetings provided a platform for closer coordination among the Paradip Port Authority, the Odisha government and East Coast Railway on projects and initiatives linked to the region's maritime and industrial development.
The coordinated approach is expected to give further impetus to industrial growth, employment generation, maritime infrastructure, logistics and trade, while supporting broader regional development and strengthening Paradip's position as a key maritime gateway on India's eastern coast.
