The Engineering Department of the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) on Sunday conducted a massive dawn-to-night cleanliness drive across the PPA township as part of the ongoing Special Campaign 6.0, removing nearly 40 tonnes of accumulated debris and waste in about 95 tractor loads.

The campaign, aimed at strengthening cleanliness, environmental sustainability and civic management in the port township, was spearheaded by Chief Mechanical Engineer (CME) Sushil Chandra Nahak, along with Executive Engineers Jamini Kanta Mohanty, Gangadhar Sethy, Sangram Kumar Samal, Binayak Pradhan and Alok Kumar Mohanty.

The operation began in the early morning and continued until late evening, with dedicated manpower, heavy machinery and transport vehicles deployed across residential colonies, public spaces, arterial roads and other locations within the township.

Under the direct supervision of senior engineering officials, teams undertook systematic cleaning and waste-removal operations, covering major roads, residential areas, public spaces and previously neglected corners. The exercise was planned to ensure extensive ground-level cleaning while minimising disruption to the daily activities of township residents.

The debris removed during the operation included unwanted vegetation, street waste, dry leaves, tree branches, broken household articles, brick and stone pieces and other solid waste. Nearly 95 tractor loads of material, weighing approximately 40 tonnes, were collected and taken up for disposal.

The sustained exercise is expected to contribute to a cleaner, safer and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the port community. The initiative also underlines the PPA's continued focus on cleanliness and environmental responsibility under Special Campaign 6.0.
