With northern Odisha
gearing up for Durga Puja celebrations marked by large community gatherings,
illuminated pandals and heightened festive activity, TP Northern Odisha
Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has stepped up preparedness measures to ensure
safe, reliable and quality power supply across the region.
With electricity
demand expected to rise at puja pandals and temporary electrical installations
becoming more widespread during the festivities, TPNODL is working in
coordination with puja committees, local administrations and field teams to
facilitate authorised temporary connections and promote adherence to electrical
safety norms.
The distribution
company has advised puja committees to obtain authorised temporary electricity
connections through the prescribed process, based on their actual load
requirements, and to submit applications well in advance. For assistance,
committees can contact TPNODL’s 24x7 customer care numbers 1912 and 1800-3456-718,
visit the company’s website or approach their nearest electricity office.
Organisers have also
been cautioned against improper connections, overloading and unauthorised
modifications to electrical installations, which can pose serious risks during
crowded festivities.
“Durga Puja is a festival that brings families
and communities together, and our priority is to ensure that these celebrations
remain safe and uninterrupted. We urge all puja committees to obtain authorised
temporary electricity connections and strictly avoid any unauthorised means of
power supply,” Dushyant Kumar Tyagi, CEO, TPNODL, said.
“Electrical installations at pandals should be
carried out safely and in accordance with prescribed safety standards. We are
working closely with organisers and the local administration to support safe
and reliable power supply throughout the festive season,” he added.
TPNODL has advised
puja committees to engage qualified electrical personnel for installing and
maintaining electrical arrangements at pandals. Organisers have been asked to
ensure proper insulation and secure wiring, while keeping electrical equipment
away from water and other potential hazards.
The company has also
stressed that pandals should be erected at a safe distance from overhead
electrical wires and other electrical infrastructure. Regular inspection of
electrical installations has been recommended throughout the festive period to
identify and address potential hazards.
In addition, puja
committees have been advised to ensure the availability of fire extinguishers,
adequate emergency access and appropriate evacuation arrangements at the pandal
premises.
TPNODL has urged consumers and visitors not to touch damaged, exposed or sparking wires or electrical equipment. Any unsafe electrical condition should be reported immediately through the company’s 24x7 call centre at 1912 or 1800-3456-718, or at the nearest electricity office.
The company said it remains committed to maintaining safe, reliable and quality power supply across northern Odisha, with safety at the core of its operations. Continued coordination with local administrations, puja committees and other stakeholders, it said, will remain central to ensuring safe and responsible Durga Puja celebrations across the region.
