Reliance Foundation,
as part of its efforts to promote grassroots sports and expand access to
sporting opportunities for schoolchildren, on Friday organised an exposure
visit for 115 students from nine government schools in Dhenkanal to the
Reliance Foundation Athletics High Performance Centre (HPC) at Kalinga Stadium
here.
The initiative
provided the students with an opportunity to experience a professional sporting
environment and gain first-hand exposure to athletics facilities and training
practices at the high-performance centre.
The participating
students, comprising 58 girls and 57 boys from Classes VI to VIII, also took
part in a Performance Grade Competition featuring three athletic disciplines —
running, long jump and javelin throw.
The initiative,
undertaken with the participation of parents of the school, seeks to encourage
children to embrace sport while fostering fitness, discipline, confidence,
teamwork and sportsmanship. It also aims to help young students identify and
nurture their interest and potential in athletics.
The exposure visit
forms part of Reliance Foundation’s broader commitment to grassroots sports and
creating opportunities for children to discover the joy and their potential
through sport.
By taking sporting experiences beyond the classroom, the initiative seeks to inspire greater participation among children and contribute to their holistic development, particularly in rural communities.
The Reliance Foundation Athletics High Performance Centre at Kalinga Stadium is operated by Reliance Foundation in partnership with the Government of Odisha, supporting the development of athletics talent and grassroots sports in the state.
