State-owned Steel Authority of India Limited's Rourkela Steel
Plant has registered a series of record-breaking production milestones in July
2026 and during the April-July period of the current financial year, reflecting
strong operational momentum and sustained excellence across its production
chain.
The steel plant concluded July with outstanding performances
across multiple production units, while several key departments recorded their
highest-ever output for the April-July period since inception. The achievements
underscore the plant's consistent operational efficiency and coordinated
performance across the value chain.
During July, Hot Strip Mill-2 achieved its best-ever monthly
rolling of Hot Rolled (HR) Coil Total, while the Sheet Shearing Line recorded
its highest-ever monthly production of HR plates, setting new benchmarks in
finishing operations.
The April-July performance was equally impressive, with
Sinter Plant-1 producing 5,11,262 tonnes of sinter during the four-month
period. The plant's cumulative sinter production reached 24,02,453 tonnes,
marking its best-ever April-July output.
Blast Furnace operations also created history, with hot metal
production touching 10,68,913 tonnes during April-July 2026, the highest-ever
production recorded by the plant since its inception.
Among the finishing mills, the Plate Mill produced 1,81,563
tonnes of plates during the period, registering its highest-ever April-July
production. Hot Strip Mill-2 also achieved record production of HR Coil Total,
HR Coil for Sale and HR Plates during the four-month period.
The plant's total saleable steel production reached an all-time high of 13,92,649 tonnes during April-July, registering a growth of 3.6 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous year (CPLY).
The company attributed the strong performance to the collective efforts and coordinated functioning of its workforce, stating that the achievements reflect the commitment of the entire Rourkela Steel Plant family towards operational excellence and sustained productivity.
