ROURKELA, JULY 7, 2026

SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has delivered a strong operational performance in June 2026 and during the first quarter (April–June) of FY2026–27 by maximising saleable steel loading and prioritising direct order fulfilment. Backed by a well-planned strategy and meticulous execution, the plant has reinforced its domestic market presence while also registering an impressive export performance.

In June 2026, RSP despatched a total of 3,16,467 tonnes of saleable steel. Of this, 2,77,018 tonnes — a substantial share — were directly despatched against customer orders, underlining the plant's focused approach to meeting customer demand promptly while reducing intermediate handling.

During the April–June quarter, direct despatches stood at 8,27,780 tonnes out of the total order despatch of 10,23,988 tonnes, translating into a direct order fulfilment level of around 81 per cent. Including stockyard movements, the plant's total despatch during the quarter reached 9,64,350 tonnes.

The strong performance reflects RSP's sustained emphasis on maximising direct despatches and leveraging its enhanced production capabilities to serve customers more efficiently. By minimising handling time, improving delivery reliability and closely aligning production with confirmed orders, the steel plant has significantly enhanced both operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

The impressive export performance during the quarter under review further highlights RSP's growing competitiveness in global markets, complementing its strengthened domestic footprint and reinforcing its position as one of SAIL's key production units.
