ROURKELA, JULY 2, 2026

The Hot Strip Mill-2 (HSM-2) of SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved yet another major operational milestone by registering its best-ever monthly coil rolling performance in June 2026, reaffirming the plant's commitment to operational excellence.

During the month, HSM-2 rolled 10,759 hot-rolled (HR) coils, surpassing its previous record of 10,713 HR coils achieved in October 2025. The feat marks the highest-ever monthly coil rolling performance by the mill in terms of the number of coils produced.

Adding to the achievement, the Sheet Shearing Line also recorded its best-ever June performance in HR plate production, further highlighting the mill's consistent operational efficiency.

Congratulating the HSM-2 team, its leadership and all supporting departments, Alok Verma, Director In-Charge (RSP), said, "The performance of the Mill is directly linked with the prosperity of the Plant." He also exhorted the workforce to make all-out efforts to achieve the target of 30 lakh tonnes of production during the current financial year.

The milestone was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the entire HSM-2 collective, supported by key departments including Production Planning and Control (PPC), Roll Shop, Computer and Information Technology (C&IT), Instrumentation, Centralised Mechanical (Maintenance), Centralised Electrical (Maintenance), Design, Traffic, Energy Management, Materials Management, Water Management, Research and Control Laboratory (RCL), Contract Cell (Works), Steel Melting Shop, and the Refractory Engineering Department.

The achievement reflects the unwavering dedication, seamless coordination and collective commitment of all the departments, whose synchronized efforts enabled HSM-2 to set a new benchmark in production performance.
