Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has reinforced its position in the global steel market by recording export dispatches of 36,033 tonnes during the first quarter of the current financial year. Backed by the consistent performance of its New Plate Mill (NPM), streamlined production planning and an efficient export logistics strategy, the plant has delivered a strong operational start to the fiscal, reflecting its growing competitiveness in international markets.

RSP concluded June and the April–June quarter with a series of encouraging operational and commercial achievements, driven by the rolling discipline of the New Plate Mill and a focused export dispatch strategy.

During June, the NPM successfully executed export orders amounting to 14,144 tonnes, meeting the precise quantity and quality requirements of overseas customers. In the first quarter, plate exports from the NPM reached 26,811 tonnes, while Hot Rolled (HR) Coil exports stood at 8,313 tonnes and HR Plate exports contributed another 909 tonnes. Together, total export dispatches for the quarter touched 36,033 tonnes, highlighting RSP's expanding footprint in international markets.

The strong export performance reflects the plant's strategic emphasis on maximising overseas order execution while leveraging its upgraded production capabilities to cater to both domestic and global customers. By synchronising production schedules with confirmed orders and streamlining material flow and logistics, RSP has enhanced delivery reliability and improved overall operational efficiency.

The plant has also prioritised direct dispatch routes, significantly reducing intermediate handling, shortening turnaround time and minimising the risk of demurrage. These measures have further strengthened customer confidence by ensuring timely deliveries and superior service standards, reinforcing RSP's reputation as a reliable supplier in the global steel industry.
