Reinforcing its
commitment to community welfare and child nutrition, SAIL-run Rourkela Steel
Plant (RSP) has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National
Dairy Development Board (NDDB) for Nutrition, Anand, Gujarat and the District
Administration to continue providing nutritious pasteurized fortified flavoured
packaged milk to primary school children under its flagship CSR Gift Milk
Programme. The initiative will benefit 1,758 students across 37 schools in
Bisra Block, Kuarmunda Block and Rourkela Municipal Corporation area.
The MoU, signed on
March 30, 2026, marks the continuation of the impactful CSR programme that
concluded on March 31, 2026 under the previous agreement. Under the renewed
pact, the programme will remain in force from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027,
with RSP committing an annual expenditure of Rs. 42.48 lakh towards the
initiative.
T G Kanekar, CGM (TS
& CSR), signed the MoU on behalf of RSP, while Shelly Topno, Manager
(NDDB), Kolkata, signed on behalf of NDDB. The signing ceremony was attended by
Munmun Mittra, GM In-charge (CSR), Bivabasu Mallick, GM (CSR), T B Toppo, DGM
(CSR), P Sahoo, DGM (CSR), B Jena, AGM (CSR), S Shukula, Deputy Manager (CSR),
along with other CSR officials and staff. Abhishek Aind, the Nodal Officer of
NDDB, Rourkela, was also present on the occasion.
As part of the initiative, each child receives 200 ml of fortified flavoured milk on every working day at school premises. The programme is designed to support the holistic growth and development of school-going children by improving nutrition levels, enhancing immunity, strengthening learning outcomes and encouraging regular school attendance.
The continued collaboration reflects RSP’s sustained focus on impactful CSR interventions aimed at improving the quality of life in surrounding communities through targeted health and education initiatives.
