In a remarkable display of operational
excellence and teamwork, the state-of-the-art Hot Strip Mill-2 (HSM-2) of Steel
Authority of India Limited’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved its best
ever annual production on March 18, 2026, surpassing the previous record of
25,51,444 tonnes of coil weight set in FY 2024–25, even before the completion
of the current financial year.
The milestone was accomplished during
the ‘B’ Shift, a full 13 days ahead of the fiscal year’s close, underlining the
plant’s sustained focus on efficiency, precision, and capacity optimization.
The achievement signals a strong finish to the year, with the mill poised to
set an even higher production benchmark by the end of March 2026.
This record-breaking performance reflects the collective commitment and seamless coordination of Team HSM-2, guided consistently by Alok Verma, DIC, Biswaranjan Palai, ED (Works), and Subrat Kumar, CGM (HSMs & Auxiliaries). The accomplishment was further reinforced by the robust support extended by multiple departments, including Steel Melting Shop-II, Production Planning & Control, Roll Shop, Traffic & Raw Materials, Instrumentation & Automation, R & C Lab, Crane Maintenance, Mechanical Shop, Design, Power Distribution, Computer & Information Technology, Central Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Groups, Energy Management Department, Civil Engineering Services, Contract Cell Works, Materials Management, Field Machinery Maintenance, Refractories, Finance, Safety Engineering, Human Resources, and Learning & Development.
