Saatvik Solar Industries Pvt Ltd, a material subsidiary of Saatvik Green Energy Ltd, has applied for enlistment of its 2.4 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Odisha under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy's (MNRE) ALMM List-II, a move aimed at strengthening its domestic solar manufacturing capabilities.

Located in Ganjam, Odisha, the facility is being developed to manufacture high-efficiency, high-wattage solar cells using advanced N-TOPCon technology.

The ALMM List-II application covers monocrystalline bifacial N-TOPCon G12R solar cell technology under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) category, with Model No. SS-NTP-210R-16BB-BF.

Subject to approval and enlistment by MNRE, the facility will be eligible for deployment in projects requiring compliance with applicable domestic sourcing norms.

"The advancement of our Odisha cell manufacturing facility towards ALMM List-II enlistment is an important milestone in our ambition to build advanced and competitive solar manufacturing capabilities in India," Saatvik Green Energy CEO Prashant Mathur said.

With a planned capacity of 2.4 GW and a focus on high-efficiency N-TOPCon technology, the facility will strengthen the company's ability to supply domestically manufactured solar cells while supporting the broader localisation of India's solar PV value chain, he added.

The Odisha plant is part of Saatvik's wider manufacturing expansion strategy, under which the company is increasing its focus on advanced solar cell and module technologies to cater to the country's rapidly growing renewable energy market.

N-TOPCon G12R cells are designed to offer higher conversion efficiency and increased power output, supporting the industry's shift towards higher-performance photovoltaic products.

The facility is also expected to strengthen Saatvik's manufacturing footprint in Odisha and generate opportunities for the regional industrial and supplier ecosystem.

Saatvik Green Energy has been expanding its presence across the renewable energy value chain, with operations spanning utility-scale solar power generation, solar PV module manufacturing and energy storage solutions.

The company currently has 4.86 GW of module manufacturing capacity and is pursuing further expansion in solar cells and modules as part of its long-term manufacturing roadmap.

The company's move into domestic cell manufacturing comes as India steps up efforts to build a resilient and self-reliant solar manufacturing ecosystem, with domestic capacity, advanced technologies and DCR-compliant production gaining importance for supply-chain resilience and meeting the country's rising renewable energy requirements.

With the Odisha facility, Saatvik aims to deepen its presence further upstream in the solar PV value chain and contribute to the development of a technology-led, locally anchored and globally competitive solar manufacturing ecosystem in India.
