Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna company and the
country’s largest public sector steel producer under the Ministry of Steel, has
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EdCIL (India) Limited, a public
sector undertaking under the Ministry of Education, to establish ‘Smart Digital
Classrooms’ in schools located around SAIL’s operational areas under its
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The MoU was signed on May 26, 2026, with the objective of promoting
inclusive education and strengthening learning outcomes through
technology-enabled classrooms. The initiative is aimed at enhancing access to
quality education for students in and around SAIL’s operational regions.
The collaboration between SAIL and EdCIL is aligned with the vision of
the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and supports the United Nations’
Sustainable Development Goal-4 (SDG-4), which seeks to ensure inclusive,
equitable and quality education, along with lifelong learning opportunities for
all.
The MoU was signed between SAIL and EdCIL in the presence of K. K. Singh, Director (Personnel), SAIL. Senior officials from both SAIL and EdCIL were also present on the occasion.
Through this initiative, SAIL aims to strengthen digital learning infrastructure in schools and contribute towards creating a more inclusive and technology-driven educational ecosystem in communities surrounding its plants and operational units.
