In a significant step towards accelerating Odisha's clean energy transition and taking the benefits of renewable energy directly to citizens, TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, on Wednesday flagged off the Solar Rath from the Office of the District Collector, Kataka. The awareness initiative aims to promote the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, encourage widespread adoption of rooftop solar systems and empower households with access to clean, affordable and sustainable energy. By reaching communities at their doorsteps, the campaign is expected to create greater awareness about government subsidies, simplified installation procedures and the long-term financial and environmental benefits of rooftop solar.

The Solar Rath was flagged off by Kataka Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde and Katata ADM (Development) Ipsita Priyadarshini Mishra, in the presence of senior TPCODL officials.

As part of the campaign, the awareness vehicle will travel extensively across the district, educating consumers on the advantages of rooftop solar, the benefits available under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and the hassle-free installation process. A dedicated Solar Sanga team will accompany the Solar Rath throughout the campaign to interact with consumers, resolve their queries and encourage greater participation in the clean energy movement.

Speaking on the occasion, Kataka Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde said, "The Solar Rath campaign will help take awareness about rooftop solar directly to the people, enabling more households to benefit from the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Such initiatives play an important role in promoting renewable energy and supporting sustainable development."

Katata ADM (Development) Ipsita Priyadarshini Mishra said, "Creating awareness at the grassroots level is essential for increasing rooftop solar adoption. The Solar Rath initiative will help consumers understand the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and encourage greater participation in the state's clean energy transition."

Speaking on the initiative, TPCODL CEO Gajanan S. Kale said, "The Solar Rath campaign is helping us take the benefits of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana directly to consumers. Through sustained awareness and doorstep engagement, we aim to accelerate rooftop solar adoption and contribute to Odisha's clean energy future."

TPCODL has been consistently driving the adoption of rooftop solar across its operational areas through a series of consumer-centric initiatives, including 'Mo Chhata, Mo Sanchaya', Gram Sabhas and the Solar Rath campaign. These initiatives reflect the company's commitment to making clean, reliable and affordable solar energy accessible to every household while supporting Odisha's vision of a greener and more sustainable future.
