In a significant step towards accelerating clean energy
adoption and expanding awareness about rooftop solar across Odisha, TP Central
Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the
Government of Odisha, on Tuesday flagged off its Solar Rath campaign from the Office of the District Collector,
Khordha. The initiative aims to take the message of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana directly to households and
encourage consumers to embrace rooftop solar systems for affordable and
sustainable electricity.
The Solar Rath was flagged
off by Pratap Chandra Beura, Additional District Magistrate-cum-District
Consumer Protection Officer, Khordha, and Jyoti Sankar Sahu, CDO-cum-Executive
Officer, Zilla Parishad, Khordha, in the presence of senior TPCODL officials.
The specially designed awareness vehicle will travel extensively across Khordha
district, educating consumers about the benefits of rooftop solar
installations, the subsidies available under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, and the simple installation
process.
To ensure effective public engagement, the Solar Rath is accompanied by trained Solar Sangas, who will interact directly
with households, address consumer queries, provide guidance on rooftop solar
adoption, and promote clean, reliable, and affordable solar energy. Through
this door-to-door outreach, TPCODL aims to make information easily accessible
and inspire greater participation in the Government of India's flagship rooftop
solar programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Pratap Chandra Beura said the Solar Rath campaign would play a pivotal
role in spreading awareness about rooftop solar and motivating more households
to avail themselves of the benefits offered under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. He highlighted that Khordha has
already created history by becoming the first district in Odisha to surpass
10,000 rooftop solar installations, setting a benchmark for clean energy
adoption in the state. He expressed confidence that the campaign would further
accelerate installations and reinforce Khordha's leadership in Odisha's
transition towards renewable energy.
Echoing similar sentiments, Jyoti Sankar Sahu said the
campaign would significantly strengthen public awareness about rooftop solar
and encourage more families to take advantage of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. He noted that the Solar Rath would cover gram panchayats
and Blocks across the district, ensuring that information about the scheme
reaches every corner of Khordha and further boosts the adoption of rooftop
solar systems.
Addressing the gathering during the flag-off ceremony, TPCODL
CEO Gajanan S. Kale said the Solar Rath campaign is designed to bring authentic
information and awareness directly to consumers, enabling them to make informed
decisions about installing rooftop solar systems. "Through sustained
outreach under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, we aim to accelerate clean
energy adoption and empower more households to benefit from affordable and
sustainable electricity," he said.
TPCODL has been consistently undertaking extensive awareness
and consumer engagement initiatives across its operational areas to encourage
greater participation in the PM Surya
Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. The launch of the Solar Rath campaign in Khordha marks another important milestone in
the company's efforts to support Odisha's transition towards a greener,
cleaner, and more sustainable energy future by taking the benefits of rooftop
solar literally to every doorstep.
