Star Air, the
aviation arm of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group, will introduce 24 new weekly flights
to Odisha from September 4, including a direct Hyderabad-Bhubaneswar service
and the reinstatement of flights between Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda.
The expansion is
aimed at strengthening air connectivity between Telangana and Odisha and
catering to demand from business travellers, students, families and tourists,
the airline said.
“With the introduction of direct
Hyderabad-Bhubaneswar flights and the reinstatement of our
Bhubaneswar-Jharsuguda services, we are strengthening connectivity across
Telangana and Odisha,” Star Air Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer Shilpa
Bhatia said.
“These services are designed to support the
needs of business travellers, students, families, and leisure seekers alike,”
she added.
The direct
Hyderabad-Bhubaneswar connection is expected to provide a faster travel option
between the two cities, which have growing links in sectors such as information
technology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, education and industry.
Hyderabad, a major
aviation gateway in southern India, serves as a key corporate and IT hub, while
Bhubaneswar is Odisha's administrative capital and an important centre for
business, education and tourism.
The airline's
decision to restore the Bhubaneswar-Jharsuguda service is also expected to
benefit western Odisha, where Jharsuguda has emerged as a major industrial hub.
The air link between
the two cities is likely to facilitate faster movement for business,
industrial, medical, educational and government-related travel, particularly
for passengers who otherwise have limited alternatives.

The airline said the expansion reflects its focus on improving regional connectivity and linking cities beyond the country's traditional metro routes.
