NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 16, 2026

The Ministry of Steel and its public sector undertakings (PSUs) will participate in Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to October 31, with a renewed focus on effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste in line with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022.

The campaign seeks to further strengthen the ministry's efforts towards cleanliness, sustainability and efficient governance, while promoting improved workplace hygiene and systematic disposal of obsolete material and records.

During Special Campaign 5.0, held in October 2025, the Ministry of Steel and its PSUs undertook extensive cleanliness and administrative efficiency drives, resulting in the clearance of pending matters, disposal of obsolete files and optimisation of available space.

Following the campaign, the ministry continued efforts to sustain the gains achieved, including weeding out outdated records, streamlining scrap disposal processes and addressing grievances more efficiently.

Special Campaign 6.0 will place particular emphasis on four key areas, including e-waste management, mechanised cleaning practices, timely disposal of pendency and awareness and public engagement.

Under the e-waste management component, the ministry and its PSUs will focus on ensuring effective collection and segregation of e-waste in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022.

The campaign will also promote greater use of modern and mechanised cleaning methods to improve hygiene and efficiency across workplaces and facilities.

Another major focus will be the timely disposal of pending references concerning the Prime Minister's Office, state governments, Parliament and VIP matters, alongside systematic disposal of old files and records.

The ministry will also leverage digital platforms and outreach initiatives to raise awareness and encourage wider public participation in cleanliness drives.

Special Campaign 6.0 will be implemented in two phases. The preparatory phase, from September 15 to September 30, will involve identification of targets and groundwork, while the implementation phase from October 2 to October 31 will focus on execution, monitoring and achieving measurable outcomes.

The Ministry of Steel said it remains committed to setting higher standards in Swachhata, grievance redressal and sustainable practices, in line with the broader objectives of efficient and citizen-centric governance.
