NTPC Limited has
elevated seasoned human resources leader Surya Narayan Panigrahi to the
position of Executive Director (HR), Northern Region Headquarters (NRHQ), with
effect from June 8, 2026, marking another significant milestone in his
distinguished career spanning more than 36 years with India’s largest
integrated power utility.
In his new role,
Panigrahi will lead the Human Resources function at NTPC’s Northern Region
Headquarters while continuing to oversee HR operations for the Southern Region,
reinforcing the company’s focus on strengthening its people-centric growth
strategy.
A highly accomplished
HR professional, Panigrahi has played a pivotal role in shaping NTPC’s human
resource landscape across a wide spectrum of functions, including recruitment,
training and development, industrial relations, employee welfare,
administration, security, corporate social responsibility, and HR
digitalization. His extensive experience has been built through leadership
assignments at some of NTPC’s key establishments, including Talcher Kaniha in
Odisha, Vindhyachal in Madhya Pradesh, APCPL Jhajjar in Haryana, Tanda in Uttar
Pradesh, the Corporate Centre in New Delhi, and the Southern Region
Headquarters in Hyderabad.
One of his most
notable contributions came during his tenure at NTPC’s Corporate Centre, where
he was instrumental in implementing PeopleSoft HRMS and SAP ERP systems,
initiatives that significantly modernized and digitally transformed the
company’s HR processes. He later served as Head of HR at Tanda Super Thermal
Power Station before taking charge as Regional Head of HR for NTPC’s Southern
Region.
Panigrahi assumed responsibility for HR functions at both the Northern and Southern Region Headquarters in December 2025 and has now been elevated as Executive Director (HR), reflecting the organization’s confidence in his leadership capabilities and strategic vision.
Widely respected within the HR fraternity, Panigrahi is known for his people-first approach, commitment to organizational excellence, and ability to drive transformational initiatives. His elevation is expected to further strengthen NTPC’s human capital development agenda and support the company’s continued journey of growth, innovation, and operational excellence.
