Purohit, Chairperson of V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, has assumed
additional charge as Chairman of Paradip Port Authority (PPA), following his
appointment by Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
Purohit, an officer
of the 1996-batch Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE),
brings extensive experience in administration, engineering, infrastructure
development, policy formulation and public-sector management to the new
assignment.
Prior to his present
role, Purohit served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Chemicals and
Petrochemicals, where he was associated with policy formulation and sectoral
development.
During his career, he
has also held key positions in the Indian Railways, Ministry of Power and the
Government of Odisha, gaining wide-ranging experience in infrastructure
development, technology-driven initiatives and public administration.
With his experience
in port management, infrastructure development, public policy and sustainable
development, Purohit is expected to provide strategic leadership to PPA while
continuing to discharge his responsibilities as Chairperson of V.O.
Chidambaranar Port Authority.
During his tenure as the additional charge Chairman, the focus is expected to be on strengthening Paradip Port's infrastructure and connectivity, improving operational efficiency, modernising cargo-handling facilities and accelerating green and sustainable port initiatives.
PPA said Purohit's experience and leadership would help further strengthen the port's capabilities and contribute to the growth of India's maritime sector and the government's vision of Viksit Bharat.
