“Sustainability is not only about awareness,
but about taking meaningful and collective action,” asserted Gajanan S. Kale,
CEO, TPCODL and Chief of Odisha Distribution Business, as TP Central Odisha
Distribution Limited (TPCODL) marked World Environment Day 2026 with the launch
of Tata Sustainability Month 2026 under the theme, “Thinking is Good, Doing is
Better” here on Friday.
The event underscored
TPCODL’s unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible
business practices. Employees and senior leadership members participated
enthusiastically in the celebrations, reaffirming the power utility’s resolve
to contribute towards a greener and more sustainable future.
Observed globally on
June 5, World Environment Day serves as a platform to inspire collective action
for environmental protection and restoration. Aligning with this year’s Tata
Sustainability Month theme, TPCODL emphasized the importance of transforming
awareness into action by encouraging employees, consumers and communities to
actively engage in sustainability initiatives.
Addressing the
gathering, Kale highlighted that sustainability can no longer remain confined
to discussions and intent. He called upon employees to embrace environmentally
responsible practices in both their personal and professional lives and play an
active role in building a cleaner, greener and more resilient Odisha.
“As we celebrate World Environment Day, we are
reminded that real progress comes from meaningful action. Through responsible
operations, energy conservation initiatives and active community participation,
TPCODL remains committed to driving positive environmental change. Tata
Sustainability Month 2026 aims to inspire employees, consumers and communities
to adopt sustainable practices and contribute towards a greener future for
generations to come,” he said.
As part of the
celebrations, employees took the World Environment Day pledge, while the
company unveiled its environmental projects for the financial year and a series
of sustainability engagements planned for the month-long campaign. Sapling
plantation and seed-ball distribution drives were also organized across Circle,
Division and Section Offices to promote environmental conservation and enhance
green cover.
The Tata Sustainability Month 2026 programme will feature a diverse range of activities, including a World Environment Day e-Quiz, sustainability awareness campaigns in schools, plogging drives, “Best Out of Waste” initiatives, awareness emailers and interactive learning sessions. Competitions such as poster-making, slogan-writing and essay-writing for employees and their wards are also being conducted to foster creativity and environmental consciousness.
Through these initiatives, TPCODL continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship while encouraging employees, consumers and communities to become active partners in creating a sustainable future.
