A high-level review
meeting was held at the TPCODL Management Development Centre to assess the
progress of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in Odisha, bringing together
senior officials from the Energy Department, Tata Power-led Odisha DISCOMs,
representatives of banks and empanelled vendors. The meeting focused on
addressing operational bottlenecks, streamlining loan disbursement processes
and strengthening coordination among stakeholders to accelerate rooftop solar
installations across the state.
The interaction was
chaired by Vishal Kumar Dev, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha.
Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised the importance of collective action in
achieving the state’s renewable energy goals. “PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana
has the potential to transform the rooftop solar landscape in Odisha. Banks,
vendors and DISCOMs must work in close coordination to ensure timely loan
disbursement and smooth implementation so that more households can benefit from
clean and affordable energy,” he said.
Chief of Odisha
Distribution Business, Gajanan Kale, highlighted the role of strong
partnerships in meeting the ambitious targets under the scheme. “The success of
this initiative depends on seamless collaboration between financial
institutions, vendors and DISCOMs. By addressing operational challenges
together, we can significantly scale up rooftop solar adoption and contribute
to Odisha’s sustainable energy future,” he noted.
The interactive
session enabled bankers and vendors to share their experiences, discuss
practical challenges and explore solutions to accelerate installations and
improve consumer access to financing under the scheme. The meeting concluded
with a shared commitment among all stakeholders to strengthen coordination and
ensure effective implementation of the scheme across Odisha.
The meeting was also
attended by Sagarika Hota, Director, Institutional Finance, Finance Department;
Sai Dutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan, Additional Secretary, Energy Department; Lingaraj
Nayak, SLBC Odisha In-charge; Arvind Singh, Chief Executive Officer, TPCODL;
and Joginath Pradhan, Chief Project Manager, REC Bhubaneswar, along with senior
officials from DISCOMs, banks and empanelled vendors.
