Tata Power Solaroof
has crossed the milestone of five lakh rooftop solar installations across India
and is targeting 30 lakh installations by 2029, as the company seeks to
accelerate the adoption of distributed renewable energy among households and
businesses.
Tata Power Solaroof,
part of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power,
has completed 5,19,673 rooftop solar installations as of July 31, 2026, giving
it a 14 per cent market share, the company said on Tuesday.
The milestone reinforces
its position as one of India's leading rooftop solar providers. CRISIL has
recognised Tata Power Solaroof as the country's No. 1 rooftop solar player for
12 consecutive years, reflecting its scale, execution capabilities and
sustained presence in the sector.
The company has also
facilitated more than Rs 8,500 crore in solar financing through a network of
over 25 financing partners, helping households and businesses overcome the
upfront cost associated with installing rooftop solar systems.
"With rooftop
solar emerging as an increasingly attractive solution for reducing electricity
costs and enhancing energy resilience, Tata Power Solaroof is expanding access
through its nationwide ecosystem of more than 700 channel partners and over 250
authorised service partners," the company said.
The network enables
the company to provide localised support across the customer journey, including
consultation, system design, installation, commissioning and after-sales
service.
Under its 'Quality
Lifelong' promise, Tata Power Solaroof offers high-efficiency solar modules
along with comprehensive warranties, financing options, insurance protection
and service support. Its solar modules carry performance warranties of 25 to 30
years, while rooftop solar systems are backed by a minimum five-year warranty.
The company said its
service proposition includes an initial response to customer service requests
within two hours and resolution within 48 hours, aimed at strengthening
reliability and the long-term ownership experience.
Tata Power Solaroof
is also supporting the government's rooftop solar ambitions through its 'Ghar
Ghar Solar' initiative, which is aligned with the objectives of the Pradhan
Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
Launched in 2024, the
initiative has expanded to 11 states and one Union Territory, covering Odisha,
Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Andhra
Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Bihar, with a cumulative population of
more than 90 crore.
Through awareness
campaigns, on-ground engagement and simplified access to rooftop solar
solutions, the initiative seeks to help consumers understand the economic and
environmental benefits of generating their own clean electricity.
The company said its
financing offerings are also aimed at addressing a key barrier to rooftop solar
adoption — the initial investment required by consumers.
Under a special
financing scheme launched through 'Ghar Ghar Solar', eligible residential
consumers can avail themselves of financing with down-payment options as low as
zero. This is intended to help households that may otherwise struggle to meet
the 10 per cent down-payment requirement under the PM Surya Ghar financing
framework.
For commercial and
industrial customers, Tata Power Solaroof offers financing solutions in
partnership with public sector undertakings and NBFCs. Its SunSmart Flexi EMI
Scheme follows a 'Pay As You Save' model, with repayments designed to align
with projected solar energy generation.
The company is expanding
its presence in the commercial and industrial segment, serving businesses
across sectors such as textiles, steel, cold storage, information technology,
hospitality, biotechnology, FMCG, consumer durables, automotive, data centres
and tea estates.
Its C&I solutions
cover system design, engineering, installation, financing and post-installation
support, enabling enterprises to reduce dependence on conventional power,
improve energy economics and advance their sustainability goals.
Beyond rooftop solar,
Tata Power is also expanding into battery energy storage solutions under its
Tata Power Battery Storage brand, recognising that energy independence requires
the ability to use clean power beyond daylight hours.
By combining rooftop
solar with battery storage, consumers can store surplus solar energy generated
during the day and use it during evenings, nights or periods of low sunlight,
thereby improving utilisation of renewable energy and reducing dependence on
grid power.
For residential
customers, the company's Mysine portfolio offers battery storage systems
ranging from 5 kWh to 40 kWh. For C&I customers, its PowerHub portfolio
provides scalable battery energy storage solutions ranging from 60 kWh to 5
MWh, with further scalability based on operational and load requirements.
The integrated
rooftop solar and battery storage offering is designed to enable consumers to
generate, store, manage and use clean power according to their energy needs,
bringing them closer to greater energy independence.
With rooftop solar adoption gaining momentum across residential and business segments, Tata Power Solaroof's target of 30 lakh installations by 2029 signals an aggressive expansion strategy aimed at deepening India's transition towards decentralised clean energy.
